Location & Directions

- Simple and hassle-free -

The Zillertal brings people together from all over Europe and the world. Whether you’re coming from Austria, neighboring countries, or even further afield—the Alpenhof in Zell am Ziller is easy and convenient to reach from all directions. Here you’ll find the best routes and helpful tips for a relaxing journey to the heart of the Zillertal Alps.

Traveling by Car: Reach Your Destination Safely from All Over Europe

Our hotel is centrally located in the valley and is perfectly connected to the European highway network. Here are the main routes depending on where you’re coming from:

  • From Germany & the Netherlands (North & West): The classic route goes through Munich onto the German A8 highway toward the Inntaldreieck interchange and continues onto the A12.

    • 💡 Our toll-saving tip: Exit the highway at the Kufstein Süd exit. The stretch up to that point is completely vignette-free! From the Netherlands, the best route is via the A3 or A61, then follow the route from Munich.

  • From Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary (East): Guests from our eastern neighboring countries usually have a wonderfully straightforward journey via the highways toward Vienna, Linz, and Salzburg. From Salzburg, take the A8 (Deutsches Eck) or the Austrian federal highway toward Kufstein and continue to the Wiesing/Zillertal highway exit.

  • From Italy (south): Coming from the south, take the Brenner Autobahn (A13) past Innsbruck. On the A12 Inntalautobahn, head toward Salzburg until you reach the Wiesing/Zillertal exit.

  • From Switzerland (west): Travel over the Arlberg (tunnel or mountain pass) onto the A12 Inntal Autobahn toward Innsbruck until you reach the Wiesing/Zillertal exit.

Traveling Sustainably by Train

Tyrol is perfectly connected to the European rail network. Traveling by train is not only environmentally friendly, but often stress-free and free of traffic jams as well.

  • International Connections (DB, NS, SBB, ÖBB): Deutsche Bahn (DB) long-distance trains, Eurocity trains from Switzerland (SBB), and ÖBB national trains take you directly to the central express train station in Jenbach.

    • Tip for guests from the Netherlands: There are excellent (overnight) train connections, such as the ÖBB Nightjet, which takes you directly from Amsterdam, Utrecht, or Arnhem to Tyrol.

  • The final leg – by the Zillertalbahn: From the Jenbach train station, simply transfer to the famous Zillertalbahn (or the regional bus). It runs comfortably every half hour and takes you directly to Zell am Ziller.

  • 💚 Our Alpenhof service: Just let us know in advance when your train arrives at the station in Zell am Ziller—we’d be more than happy to pick you up there!

Traveling by Plane

For travelers arriving from distant regions of Germany, Switzerland, or the Netherlands (e.g., Amsterdam Schiphol or Rotterdam), the following nearby airports are convenient:

  • Innsbruck Airport (INN): approx. 60 km (The fastest route to the Zillertal, ideal for flights from the Netherlands and the United Kingdom)

  • Munich Airport (MUC): approx. 190 km (Perfect for long-haul flights from around the world and within Germany)

  • Salzburg Airport (SZG): approx. 170 km

From all of these airports, you can easily book a reliable airport transfer (e.g., Four Seasons Travel) that will take you right to our hotel’s doorstep.
